NYSC FCT FOOTBALL TEAM SEALS RECORD DEFEAT

It is said that in every game or competition, there is always a loser and a winner. But in this particular game, the standard of the winning side could be look on as an embarrassment on the part of the losing side.

The game between the NYSC Abuja football team against their arch rivals, the Baptist Boys took most spectators back to the world cup game between Brazil and Germany, with many left in absolute awe and bewilderment at the score line that characterized the match in the absence of the coach of the NYSC team, Mr Emmanuel.

The game having been delayed by the morning rains, eventually started at exactly 9.20am. The teams started the game slowly, and everyone took their time because of the wet nature of the field. But life was immediately introduced into the game with a early goal from Eto of the NYSC team. Although his calm celebration was quickly thwarted with an equalizer from the host team few minutes later, it was KC, another NYSC player that stole the shine with his brilliant goal, slaughtering home a skillful pass from Eto. Just when everyone wore a smile from the tempo of the game, the Baptist boys turned the game on its head; pumping in plenty of goals into the NYSC team’s net, who were left at the mercy of a deputize goalie.

And in no time, it was eight goals to two against the NYSC team, who seemed like life has been taken off the team, with most starting players making way for weaker players to try performing the miracles they weren’t capable of performing. It took only a last minute goal from Ugochukwu, who had come in as a substitute to restore a little sanity to the NYSC team, who at this moment had lost focus, and couldn’t wait for the referee to sound the final whistle. The game ended 8 goals to 3 in favour of the Baptist boys.

This was the fourth time these two teams had played against each other, with the NYSC not recording any victory so far. It has been series of defeats and leftovers of bitter spirit amongst the NYSC team, who have blamed the defeats on lack of seriousness on the part of players, and poor turn out to CDS meetings.
