After one year with the National Youth Service Corps I will say indeed I have encountered “life” even if it may not be as they intended in their admonitions. I met and worked with people of different backgrounds, different perceptions and work ethics, the good the bad and definitely, the ugly. These entire work diversities added up to constitute a very eventful and effective work experience for this past year.
One of the mile stones for me will be my experience with other corps members as they taught me how to work effectively and efficiently with people of diverse mind sets, strengths and weaknesses.
My advice to the incoming batch members and to everyone who will have the opportunity of reading this post is this: Life always throws us opportunities, some we will see when we are not so busy thinking about problems and other situations. NYSC is one of such opportunities, it will only be a good opportunity if we brace it and wade through the waters to see its glory or it could just be one year you could not wait for to be over.
To the outgoing 2013 Batch B Corps Members, I wish you triple of what you wish yourself and I pray that, where others crawl, you will sit, where others sit, you will stand, where others stand, you will outstand, and where others outstand, you will be outstanding.
Best Wishes
Udenyi Evangeline
